Police Helipad lighting – South Africa

South African Police Service (SAPS) is a national police whose main task is to ensure security. Therefore, it needs to be operational at any time and any place. Currently, the police have 1110 posts which host 30 helicopters. They are used in anti-terrorism, search and rescue actions.

South Africa is a country that is rich in remote, hard-to-reach places where there is no electric power or it is limited. As for helipads, lighting during night operations – as you can easily imagine – is a key factor so South African Police had to look for a reliable solution that does not require electricity. Mobile solar lighting was a perfect choice. Such lights are bright enough to be noticeable from a far distance and they are resistant to hazardous environmental conditions.
